This was what I saw when I clicked onto one of my favorite sites yesterday ...
What a spectacular photograph!
Today, in some parts of the world, a few lucky people will be able to see an annular eclipse. For a more detailed explanation of the "ring of fire", go here.

beautiful! Goldenrod. Lovely image
Oh wow, that's gorgeous!
hey goldenrod, i see that there are two satellites on their way to the sun right now and they are going to take the first images of the "back of the sun". now i know you're thinking "the back?" well there's not really a back is there . . . but it'll be the bit that we can't see. so hopefully there'll be some similarly beautiful images of burning halo's and coronas and stuff come out of that!
steven
If we orbit around the sun, why don't we ever see the "back" side, hmmm?
What kind of blows my mind, Steven, is that - not only is that Mars Lander still sending back information, but the vehicles that were sent there years ago are still sending back information. Initial expectations were for 90 days, I think. Incredible, really!
