Orange Cinnamon Rolls ... (tried and true recipe) ...

... as proven by Tammy. The following photo was taken by her a little earlier today.

Don't they look absolutely luscious??

In my post of December 1st, I published - in a section of "Bits & pieces" - a recipe for the above that I had only read about but not tried. It sounded scrumpdeliocious! Here's what I initially wrote ... ...

Cut the top off an orange ... hollow out the insides. Once orange is cleaned out, unroll canned cinnamon roll dough and wind into orange in a spiral. It may take more than one to fill the orange. ("Why not just hollow out two oranges and use three cans of cinnamon roll dough?" was my question - made sense to me!) Place top back on orange and cover with foil. Cook either on open fire or bake in oven @375 degrees for about 15 minutes, or until cinnamon rolls are done. They will have a nice orange flavor. ("Well, I guess!" was my added comment.)

Well, folks, I am pleased to announce that - officially (Tammy and her family are the officials) - they are SO YUMMY!

Now, for any of you who might be wondering if Tammy followed the recipe 'exactly' -- no, she did not. Here's what she said ... ...

Cut the tops off of 8 oranges (or as many as you need to equal how many cinnamon rolls come in a can). Clean the oranges out as best you can, making sure to get out as much juice as possible. Fill each orange with one cinnamon roll. Place tops LOOSELY back onto the oranges. Wrap each orange in foil, but leave the tops unwrapped. (The foil is just for keeping the oranges propped up in the oven, and some of the hot air needs to reach the actual cinnamon rolls or you'll just have a bunch of dough.) Bake @375 degrees for about 30 minutes. Some oranges take 25 minutes, and some take 35 minutes ... it just depends on how much liquid was left in each orange. As they cook, the orange tops will pop off and the cinnamon rolls will start to expand. When done baking, take the cinnamon rolls out of the oranges. They will have a nice orange flavor.

Tammy then added that they frosted their cinnamon rolls after they finished baking with the frosting that came in the can.

Good for you, Tammy, you brave woman!
